Flora and Fauna in and around Rowan Lake
Below are some of the unique animal and plant species found in and around Rowan Lake. These include both common and some rare species. While fishing on Rowan Lake, you’ll get to experience the true Wilderness.
Officially Ontario is in the mixed forest zone, the forest type found at Rowan Lake is overwhelmingly boreal in nature. White pine, red pine, jack pine, black spruce, trembling aspen, and white birch dominate this forested area.
Rowan Lake is located in the Canadian Shield that is characterized with thin poor soils and outcroppings of volcanic rock that were carved out during the last glaciation period over 10,000 years ago. The lakes are surrounded with pines, spruces and bogs. Rowan Lake is classified as an oligotrophic lake that is low in nutrients and extremely clear waters typical of lake trout lakes.
Rowan Lake is 18 miles long and 7 miles wide with water flowing into the lake from Hill lake. Rowan lake is also very deep with it’s greatest depth at 180 feet.
