Posted by:

The Nielsen’s Fly-In Lodge family lost a great friend last Friday.  Long time fishing buddy and guest Jeff Larson from Rockford IL passed away last Friday morning.  Unfortunately, he didn’t get to make his annual fishing trip up here on Rowan Lake.  He and his fishing buddy Nic were scheduled to be our last group in camp this season.

We will always remember Jeff for all the wonderful memories and for the man who placed family and friendship foremost in his ...

Sept Fishing Report

Posted by:

What a ride!

First it’s 100 degrees, muggy and calm and then it’s dipping below freezing at night.  It’s what you expect in early September up here!

Fishing has been good after a spike in surface temps the last part of August they are now back down to 66-67 degrees.  The late August heat burn the tops of a lot of the cabbage beds, but the deeper part of the weeds are still green.

Fishing has been good and they are showing up ...

Early August Report

Posted by:

Water temps have dropped to 66 degrees F all over the lake.  Finally, nice stable weather is coming to set in for a while.  Had 25 fish follow yesterday on glide baits and buck tails.  Mostly all smaller fish.  Put only one in the net.   I’m back after them today with sunny and calm and a nice break from the 30 mph winds recently!

Always calm waters to you all and the best of luck out there!

Thanks for checking in…Later ...

Water temps have been rising slowly, now in the mid 70’s.   Most all muskies have been seen and caught on rocks in the mid 30’s to mid 40 inch stuff.  The big girls have all been on mid lake reefs.  Saw 8 fish two days ago guiding a clients Mark and Carla who were fly fishing for them not covering alot of water.  They had 2 missed opportunities, neither of the in the net!  Dam great effort by those ...
