Water temps have been rising slowly, now in the mid 70’s. Most all muskies have been seen and caught on rocks in the mid 30’s to mid 40 inch stuff. The big girls have all been on mid lake reefs. Saw 8 fish two days ago guiding a clients Mark and Carla who were fly fishing for them not covering alot of water. They had 2 missed opportunities, neither of the in the net! Dam great effort by those to none the less! The next day Mark was able to connect with 36″ muskie and a nice Smallie! Anyone who has chased Muskies with a fly rod knows how much work goes into it…(see pics below).
Walleye, Lake Trout and the Small Mouth and Large Mouth Bass bite has been fantastic. The Lake Trout are moving deeper as the lake temps warm up. We’ve had some calm hot sunny days and it doesn’t take much to warm things up. We’ve also experiences plenty of cold fronts moving through, the the weather has been a bit eratic to say the least… Weed beds are really starting to get going and the weed line now is at about 12ft. It won’t be long and the beds will be crawling with fish also the thermocline now is at about 25ft and setting up well.
Always calm waters to you all and more reports to come thanks for checking in…later!
