With the recent summer like weather the water temperatures are warming up rapidly in the past week. The surfuce temperature is around 74 degrees.
Weed growth is a little bit behind normal and the lake level is lower then normal.
Small mouth bass are just finishing up spawning and are starting to get really active in the morning on swim baits and twitch baits. Also, after dinner guest are having a lot of fun catching smallies on rock piles with surface baits.
Lake trout have been on and off. They are still around 25-40 feet down. Red and silver Williams Wabler w70s have been the hot bait.
Pike fishing has been excellent in the mid day on center lake rock piles. A lot of mid 30 inch pike are being caught on number 5 Mepps and big swim baits and rattle traps have worked well too.
Walleye fishing has been good with groups catching 18-23 inchers daily. See the nice 27″ caught below.
Spring fishing has been excellent and we are looking forward to the Muskie opener coming up next weekend!
Stay tuned for more updates.
